Always Have a Satchel or Backpack. Keep a Pencil with a Good Eraser, & a nice pen that you can go over your sketches with....I suggest a Micron Black 2.0 pen (available at Art Supply Stores like Michaels), and if you're more artsy you might want to take crayons to make rubbings, which is also a good idea for those of you who don't really want to actually draw, just record. Rubbings are very easy & accurate. Take a crayon just in case and take off the paper. (Just in case that leaf is harder to draw than you thought!) I like to keep nature guides so i can identify what i'm finding, but you don't have to. Sometimes it's nice to observe something that you have no clue about.

Try to always right down the date, time, your location, & the weather. Note anything interesting or any theories/ideas you may have thought up. Brainstorm. Jot down Questions.

And Shaboom, you have a wonderful Nature Jounral.
