Heian Nidan is usually specific to Orange Belt in my dojo, though some Schools teach it at yellow belt or even white belt. It’s a great Kata for competition as it is very powerful if done well. I’ve taken gold with this Kata in Park City. Some relate the opening moves of Heian Yondan, a later kata, to those of Nidan because of their similarity. Heian Nidan has a lot of Back Stance, Kokutsu-Dachi, & Mai-Geri. If done really well this kata could beat a higher division kata in tournament.
